(14 September 2015, Monday) The articles describe the Mid-Autumn festival in Singapore and the lighting up of 2300 lanterns, in conjunction with SG50, to commemorate this event.

It is mentioned that the lanterns were designed by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts students and teachers, and they also worked with 40 experts from China for 4 months on the production of the lanterns.

In the chinanews.com article, Kenneth Yip Cheng Kit, 23, is highlighted as one of the participating students. He said that while searching for inspiration, he went to do a lot of research on Singapore, and found out a lot about Singapore’s history during the process. He also got emotional when he saw his works on display at Chinatown.

The most eye-catching display is the large colourful Merlion, measuring 12m tall and 6m wide, adorned by the national flower Vanda Miss Joakim and the Aranda Lee Kuan Yew. It is located at the junction of Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road and Upper Cross Street. There are also other lanterns of icons familiar to Singaporeans such as Sharity Elephant and Water Wally.
