The centrepiece is a 12m-tall Merlion lantern, facing Upper Cross Street, which is designed by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts students and produced by a team of craftsmen from China.

It is mentioned that the lanterns were designed by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts students and teachers, and they also worked with 40 experts from China for 4 months on the production of the lanterns.

The most eye-catching display is the large colourful Merlion, measuring 12m tall and 6m wide, adorned by the national flower Vanda Miss Joakim and the Aranda Lee Kuan Yew. It is located at the junction of Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road and Upper Cross Street. There are also other lanterns of icons familiar to Singaporeans such as Sharity Elephant and Water Wally.
