From Ants to Giants

A group shot of the 18 aspiring graphic designers of Gi[ants].

Gi[ants] from AD1705 is the latest batch of soon-to-be graduates of The One Academy’s School of Advertising & Graphic Design. Comprising of 18 down-to-earth individuals with capabilities beyond the sky, they are set out to leave their own trails in this vast world full of possibilities.

These aspiring graphic designers pay a final tribute to the three years that have transformed them from ants to giants, with their online graduation exhibition. They are Yap Cheng Wei, Woon Jia Yee, Wong Pui Yee, Tan Shang Jie, Tan Pei Wen, Tan Connie, Shohida Rasulova, Nikki Wong, Ng Wan Rou, Ng Pei Yee, Mah Yue Nam, Lu Ying Jie, Ling Suet Qi, Lieow Yong Qi, Leong Jing Er, Lee Hajin, Lee Cin Cing and Chia Jing Tong.

“We had to turn our exhibition digital due to circumstances. Although we had hoped to have a physical exhibition, the online exhibition was a fresh challenge for us where we still put in a lot of work and effort to make happen. We are proud that our batch had done a great job throughout the whole journey and overall our exhibition was a success,” said Shohida Rasulova, the group’s president.

“The development stage took some time. At the end, however, all the struggles paid off and we are hoping to win some awards in competitions with our graduation exhibition work,” she added.

“In the beginning, we were completely clueless about how online graduation exhibition goes, but our lecturers were very responsible for teaching and leading us the way. Although we made many mistakes in the process, they were always there to guide us by the side. They gave many good advice and told us the right way to manage our work so that we won’t make the same mistakes in our future careers,” explained the group’s vice president, Ng Wan Rou.

“Communication is very important, whether it be communicating with the lecturers, the team leaders or teammates. In addition, time management and planning are also the main factors that make the whole event go smoothly. The most important is team spirit; everyone does not distinguish between each other but only work together for the best results!” said Ng in advice.

Adapting to the new normal means learning news ways to do things and progressing into the digital age. Give them something sweet by showing your support to their online graduation exhibition at www.giantsgraduation.com!
