Miri – 30 September 2019 – Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Confluence Contours Sdn. Bhd. for student participation in Confluence Contours’ internship, training and mentoring programmes, as well as exchange of knowledge and expertise and programmes and collaboration in creating career opportunities for students.

Confluence Contours is the Malaysian arm of Confluence, a leading, global provider of geospatially powered solutions to the commercial, government, financial, insurance and communications industries.

Present at the signing were Confluence Contours’ Country Recruitment and Site Support Manager Brijesh Balachandran, Assistant Manager Recruitment and HR Business Partner Rowena Boey.

Representing Curtin Malaysia were Pro Vice-Chancellor, President Professor Jim Mienczakowski, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Beena Giridharan, Chief Operating Officer Pieter Pottas, Acting Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Science Associate Professor Vincent Lee and Heads of Department of the Faculty of Engineering and Science.

Professor Mienczakowski said the signing of the MoA marked a new chapter in the two organisations’ already close relationship. He said that in addition to facilitating significant collaboration that will be of great benefit to both organisations, it would also allow them to explore further long-term opportunities, share experiences and create a knowledge exchange path between them, and most importantly, provide opportunities and career pathways for Curtin Malaysia’s students.

He added that, with Curtin Malaysia’s strengths in education, using modern technology-rich facilities and applying the latest learning and teaching pedagogies, and its excellent research facilities and strong industry partnerships, the university is well placed to support the terms of the MoA.

“I think both parties have seen the considerable potential for collaboration in these areas and I am pleased that we are taking them one step forward with the signing of this MOA,” Professor Mienczakowski remarked.
